Privacy, in plain language
This site is made for curious kids and their families, so the privacy rules are strict and simple.
What we collect from you while you browse: nothing personal
- No account is needed to use any part of the encyclopedia.
- No advertising networks. No ad trackers. No selling of data.
- No Google Analytics.
- We use Vercel Analytics, a cookieless counter that tells us which pages are popular. It does not identify you, does not use cookies, and does not follow you to other sites.
Videos
Videos are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and they load only after you choose to press play. Until you press play, YouTube gets no signal that you are here. After you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy applies to the player.
Photos
Most animal photos load straight from Wikimedia Commons servers, the free photo library run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Loading a photo tells those servers your device asked for that picture, and nothing else: we send no referrer, and Commons sets no cookies for it. The photos on our story pages are hosted here.
Kids
We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. There are no comments, no chat, no sign-up forms for kids, and no prompts to share anything about yourself.
